Shared Terminal

by | Apr 4, 2025

Set up a Shared terminal for use in reception, production, or other locations as needed. Users can start and stop work using a PIN code. The terminal can be secured to prevent users from registering time using other devices.

With the Shared terminal, you can have a tablet that everyone uses or each individual employee can use their own smart unit.

You can enable location so that you can see where the employee has checked in.

You can enable and disable the different actions as you would like. Remember to press Save.

To help your employees you may want to enable a written guide at the log in page, incase they forget how to use the terminal.

Under the Shared terminal, you can enable and disable according to your needs.

To create a Shared terminal unit, click on “Link for Shared terminal” or scan the QR code with the device you would like to be the Shared terminal, to go to the terminal system:

This is then what the unit would show for the employees checking in an out.

Users terminal code is created under  user lists.

To know more about the shared terminal, have a look at the  “Check in/out with tablet and pincode”.

To put the terminal on a smart unit, follow the steps below:

1. Scan the QR code from the “Set up Shared Terminal” with the unit you want as a Shared terminal.

2. Press the Share button. (The layout may vary from unit to unit. The example is from an apple unit.)

3. Choose the “Add to Home Screen”.

4. Give the icon a name like “Shared Terminal” and click “Add”.

5. Now the Terminal is on the home screen of the unit.

From here the tablet can be locked so that it’s only the Shared terminal available.

This is done through the settings of the unit.

How to set a screen lock on the terminal:

1. Go to Accessibility under settings on the unit you want to use for the Shared terminal.

2. Go to Guided access.

3. Go to Passcode settings.

4. Create a password for the screen lock, so that it’s not just anyone who can unlock it.

5. Now go back to accessibility and go to accessibility shortcuts.

6. Choose “Guided Access” to enable the 3 click lock system.

7. Make sure that the screen’s display is not on auto-lock. So go into “Display & brightness” under settings.

8. Click on “Auto-lock” and set time to never. This way the screen won’t turn off.

9. Go back to your link icon that you created for the Shared terminal.

10. Tripple click on your home button (Or turn off button depending on the unit) to enable the locked screen.

11. If you want to disable parts of the screen so it is no longer abled to be touched, tripple click on the home button or side button again, enter the code chosen and the guided access will appear like so: –>

12. Mark the areas on the screen you would like to disable and press resume.

To disable the locked screen, tripple click on the home button or side button, enter the chosen code and press end.
